  • Laurel oil: nourishing, emollient and moisturizing action. It softens, soothes and protects the skin from drying out. It contributes to cleanse the skin.
  • Zinc oxide: action anti-UV and cleansing. It forms a protective film which protects from the external aggressions.
  • The essential oil of lavandin: repairing and alleviating capacity, contributes to relieve the horse.
  • Also contains: Vegetable oil of sunflower, Beeswax, Fatty acid, Vitamin E

Properties and instructions for use

  • The anti-crevasse and mud scab ointment acts on crevasses and mud scabies, and on the pasterns.
  • Its active ingredients promote skin repair, moisturize, soothe and have a sanitizing action.
  • It forms a protective film against external agents and UV rays, which are aggravating factors in mud scabies.
  • Tested by the veterinary school of Lyon: “It improves the cutaneous barrier (reduction of the insensible loss in water) and the cutaneous hydration, in a fast way”.
  • Directions for use : In corrective action, apply once a day by massaging on the affected area for 2 weeks minimum until complete repair of the skin.
  • In preventive action, to apply 1 time per week to the zones at the risk

« Les peignes sont fâcheuses quoique sèches : car elles poussent continuellement de la crasse qui se forme sur le cuir et s’attache au poil. Le remède pour les sécher, est de prendre de bon tabac de Brésil, une couple d’onces ; coupez-le très-menu ; ou bien enfeüillez-le, & le mettez tremper dans un demi-septier de bon esprit de vin, pendant douze heures, remuez le tabac d’heure à autre pour mieux faire pénétrer l’esprit de vin, & attirer toute la teinture & la force du tabac, après quoi frottez les peignes sans les écorcher, & ensuite les frottez avec une poignée de ce tabac, qui a trempé dans l’esprit de vin, & le faites bien pénétrer dans le mal à force de frotter, & continuez de la sorte tous les jours. »

Crevasse du paturon: Les facteurs aggravants

La lumière joue un rôle important dans le développement des bactéries en cause dans les crevasses du paturon. Préservez les pieds avec un onguent protecteur qui laisse transpirer la peau plutôt qu’avec un pansement occlusif.

Autre point important, les croûtes ne doivent pas être arrachées ni traitées avec des produits trop agressifs, car la fragilité cutanée sera aggravée et le phénomène amplifié. Un onguent aura l’avantage de ramollir les croûtes tout en réparant la barrière cutanée. L’humidité est un autre critère, les longs poils des fanons jouent le rôle de « gouttière » sur les membres en permettant à l’eau de s’écouler jusqu’au sol, les couper équivaut à créer des zones de stagnation de l’humidité dans le pli du paturon et à supprimer la protection naturelle contre la lumière.
